the word homemaker explains that the person is responsible in carrying out the day to day activities of home in a proper and economical manner. This is a very big responsibility. So what should a homemaker do so that the house is run an economical manner?
Let us see some tips.
It is said that money saved is money earned (most recent version to power saved is power generated!!!!). These tips on the hindsight can prove to be money savers; at least a considerable amount of money. Let us see step by step taking into consideration a normal middle-class house.
Electricity economy:
We usually forget to turn off lights and fans or shut down the computer in spite of not needing them. This applies to everybody in the house not only the homemakers. Make sure to turn them off when not in use. You can put a small note on a paper with a neat headline and a cartoon to indicate to turn off lights and fans including computer. This reduces the electricity bill to a certain extent.
Make a study of the peak time of power use in your house. This is only during the mornings when it is necessary for us to prepare breakfast or lunch or have a bath. During that times be careful to use them economically. For example, while cooking we usually put on the toaster switch forget it and turn the induction cooker or microwave and forget that too thanks to their cooking indicators which help us in identifying the time the food is cooked. Make sure you do not use them at the same time. Since microwaves or induction cooker consume a considerable amount of electricity, make sure to use them one after the other. Even use A.C. economically by setting to a higher temperature instead of setting it too low and using a thick blanket. Using star rated electrical appliances consumes less power along with reducing electricity bill.
Left overs in kitchen economy:
Usually when some food is left over we throw it away. Instead we can use them in a different way. Some examples are, if boiled rice is left we can use it to put starch on clothes or else like a gum to stick papers (during the bygone days people used to use it in that way. And also now-a-days in some traditional houses ). Vegetables or curries can be boiled again to eat. Rotis or chapaties can be used as early morning breakfast along with milk.
Purchase groceries and vegetables and fruits only to the needed extent. Do not buy them in excess and store it. By doing so saves a lot of money.
Water economy:
Now-a-days there is a lot of scarcity of water. We are buying drinking water. Do not waste this water. Some people have a habit of throwing some left out water inside the glass after drinking. Put a stop to this habit. If there is a water purifier in the house do not throw the water (as it is indicated on the purifier to throw some amount of water coming firstly out of it). Instead you can use it very efficiently; like using the water for bath or putting it in washing machine for washing clothes, or you can also use it to water plants or else wash vegetables. Some homemakers after washing the vegetables throw the water. Instead you can use it to water plants. If you don’t have any plants in the house put it in toilet because we usually make sure that the toilet is neat by flushing on a regular intervals, if kids are there at home.
Beauty parlor economy:
It is very common now-a-days to go to beauty parlor for enhancing our beauty. During such cases try to be economical by doing some beauty treatment yourself in the house itself. You can use the best products available in the market and use for self beauty treatment and still can save 80% to 90% easily on your beauty parlor expenditure.
Shopping economy:
Prepare a to buy list before going to shopping. This helps in buying only things which are useful. This also saves spending a lot of money. Do not use your credit card for each and every thing; Or else leaving it in the home before going to shopping also helps saving a lot of money.
During shopping children ask a lot many things to buy most of the times unnecessary. Put a stop to it. Do not buy each and everything asked by them. Tell them to talk about their requirements during monthly budget of the family. This helps them to learn qualities like planning for future and money management.
These are some points which can help you save a considerable amount of money. But before doing all these, it is very important to understand the significance of saving so that you can get some tips yourself to save money.
